Three different dates affect a displayed price
Searching for “fuel prices today” is understandable, but freshness needs more than one date. PienoGo uses official MIMIT fuel-price data, with daily imports. It does not invent or estimate missing pump prices.
Keep these stages separate:
- Station communication. The station supplies a price to MIMIT. Its reporting date belongs to that price, fuel and service type.
- Source publication. MIMIT publishes an open-data snapshot daily. Its dataset page says the snapshot contains prices in force at 08:00 on the day before publication.
- PienoGo import. The app imports the published data daily. Importing a file does not turn older station communications into new reports.
There can therefore be a delay between a pump-side change and its appearance in PienoGo. This article explains how to interpret the data; its publication and review dates do not represent the freshness of any station’s price.
Check the price you intend to use
A station can have several price rows: benzina is petrol, gasolio is diesel, self is self-service and servito is attended service. A fresh report for one row does not establish the freshness of all the others.
Read the relevant last update alongside the fuel and service type. An older reporting date is a reason to assess uncertainty, rather than proof that the price must have changed. Conversely, a recent report cannot guarantee that the pump still shows the same amount when you arrive.
Inspect freshness in PienoGo
- Search around your location or an address and select your fuel in Filters.
- Open a station and inspect its price rows and last update.
- Use Updated today if you want to narrow the results by the app’s freshness criterion. Expect fewer options where reports are older.
- Read price history for context, then check the station’s displayed pump price before filling.
History describes the prices recorded by the app. Its current, average, minimum and maximum figures do not promise a future price or establish that every intermediate pump-side change was captured. Nearby discovery and these comparisons work without registration.
Common questions
Does a daily import mean every price was reported today?
No. The import date describes the app’s data refresh; the station’s reporting date describes the individual price communication.
Can I use the review date on this guide as a price date?
No. It tells you when the explanatory article was reviewed. Open the app and inspect the actual station entry for price information.
Why might the pump price differ from the app?
The fuel or service type may differ, or the price may have changed since the report included in the imported dataset. Check those details before purchasing and use the pump’s displayed price for the transaction.
